We’re officially two weeks out from Matthew’s Wish!
We’re asking everyone to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at our firehouse.

📍 929 Johnson Avenue, Ronkonkoma

Every toy helps brighten a child’s holiday, and we’re really looking forward to making Matthew’s wish happen this year.

Let’s do this together. @matthews_wish
Today, Lakeland Fire Department's Ladder 3 had the profound honor of assisting in a flag arch tribute for FDNY Lieutenant Patrick Brady at the entrance to his final resting place. We stood in solemn respect for his service, sacrifice, and enduring legacy.

Rest in peace, Lieutenant

This holiday season, Lakeland Headquarters and our EMS Company are proud to be taking part in the Matthew’s Wish Toy Parade ( @matthews_wish )on Saturday, December 13th.
Matthew was a 13-year-old boy whose final wish before he passed in 2011 was to fill an 18-wheeler with toys for children spending the holidays at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
That simple wish has grown into a 15-year tradition of hope, kindness, and joy bringing smiles to countless children and families every holiday season.
We’re honored to support this incredible mission again this year, and we’re asking for your help to make it happen.
Toy Drop Off Location:
Lakeland Fire Department Headquarters
929 Johnson Ave, Ronkonkoma, NY 11779
(Lobby area)
Collection Dates:
Now through December 13th until we depart for the parade.
Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy for a child in need. Every single toy no matter how small helps brighten a child’s day and reminds their family they’re not alone during the holidays.
Let’s come together to keep Matthew’s wish alive and continue spreading the spirit of giving throughout our community.
Today’s Department Drill
This afternoon, members took part in a multi vehicle MCI training scenario involving three cars and a school bus.
The exercise focused on teamwork, patient triage, and coordination under pressure. Skills that prepare us for real world mass casualty incidents.
Big shoutout to Captain John Lombardo for his leadership throughout the drill, and to Elite Towing and JWL Automotive Services in Bohemia for their support with the vehicles.
This past week, Lakeland Headquarters participated in Red Ribbon Week alongside the Connetquot School District and Slocum Elementary School.
Each year, Ladder 3 proudly assists the school in capturing its annual Red Ribbon Aerial Picture Day photo. This year’s theme “Life’s a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free” serves as an important reminder of the value of making healthy, positive choices.
This afternoon, Lakeland Headquarters Truck 3 responded to Central Islip Fire Department as the RIT Team for a working basement fire with reports of occupants trapped. Truck 3 was staffed with along with Station 2.
Upon arrival, Lakeland crews went right to work assisting with overhaul operations in the basement. Central Islip firefighters successfully removed two occupants from the structure.
Lakeland operated on scene for just over an hour under the command of 3-7-30.
After being reslesed from Central Islip, Truck 3 responded to assist the Ronkonkoma fire department for another structure fire in their district

Early this morning just before 2am Lakeland HQ E2 along with @lfd_station2 E4, & @lakelandfdems responded to a MVA on Veterans Memorial Hwy and were met with a tractor trailer involved MVA which was noted to have an actively leaking diesel saddle tank. Lakeland FD units along with the Town of Islip Haz-Mat Team, @nys_dot, and @scpd5thprecinct crews were able to safely and successfully mitigate + cleanup a large diesel spill in excess of 20 gallons in the roadway… another job well done by all involved!
Early this morning HQ Engine 2 made a trip down south to help our friends at the @westsayvillefiredepartment and standby while they operated at a fatal house fire in Oakdale
This evening HQ Engine 2 along with Lakeland Engine 5, Rescue 6, and EMS crews handled a Multi Car MVA with entrapment at Smithtown Av and South 2nd Street. Lakeland crews worked diligently along with SCPD 5th Precinct Officers and SCPD ESU to safely extricate patient, secure the vehicles + debris in roadway, and ensure transport to hospital for those injured… A great response and strong work by all our first responders tonight!
